Access to Work

Course Descriptions

UNDERSTANDING ACCESS TO WORK

Attendees will be taken through the basics of Access to Work, on to practical application and operational requirements. This session ensures each member of the team understands their role in the process and where they fit into the bigger picture, especially around the financial implications of getting it wrong.

Length of Training – Half day

ACCESS TO WORK BUSINESS REVIEW

Business Review is useful for those setting up to use, or already using Access to Work.

Includes Access to Work Handy Hints and Tips workshop, followed by departments involved in delivery joining me to go through current set-up, pinch points with processes and procedures that include managing risks and challenges.

Length of Training – One day session, which can be delivered in two half days.

ACCESS TO WORK COACHING AND MENTORING

High-level coaching and mentoring to departments using Access to Work, including monthly audits.

Attendees will understand what the Access to Work requirements are on a monthly basis, fitting in with a claim cycle.

Audit includes what to look for to ensure Job Coaching hours being claimed, have been delivered and match additional claim documents, for example, a DP222 and the Job Coaching Support Hours Log, where required.

This service ensures staff are focused to have documentation ready, and they attend their monthly audit meeting to ensure any inconsistencies are addressed immediately. As the claim cycle improves, the audit service tapers off.

Length of Training – Monthly

Evidencing Effective Job Coaching

Course Description

Attendees will learn how to create a Task Analysis library, and how task analysis documents from the library, used alongside Systematic Instruction, record their supported person's development to independence.

The process used is evidence-based and details the steps achieved to sign someone off as independent in each aspect of a job role or identify areas to be job carved out.

This evidence-based approach provides strong documentation of progress and is useful for OFSTED, Access to Work Job Coaching Log information and Commissioners, to name a few.

During our session, a Task Analysis library will be created for a specific job role, which will be a takeaway from the day, along with a Task Analysis template.

Length of Training – One day

Supported Internships

Course Descriptions

JOB COACHING SUPPORT HOURS LOG COMPLETION

Completing evidence-based Job Coaching Logs, using Task Analysis.

Attendees will learn how to document the progress their supported person is making through Task Analysis and Systematic Instruction on to Job Coaching Logs, which are required by Access to Work to evidence job coaching support on some programmes, for example, Supported Internships.

A takeaway from this session is a basic Job Coaching Support Hours Log template.

Length of Training – Half day

SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP FINANCIAL REVIEW

Implementation and/or review of the Supported Internship programme.

Attendees will be able to conduct a 360 review of the programme they are developing or expanding. There will be a deep dive into the pricing of services, along with the provision of education and classroom support costs when commissioning with Local Authorities. Particularly relevant to anyone supporting those with more complex needs and disabilities.

In parallel, how Access to Work funding supports the young person during the employment aspect of the programme and how that works in reality.

Attendees will be able to create their own Vocational and Educational Assessment template, including a price list that details the use of Elements One, Two and Three; particularly useful when discussing support needs and related costs to Local Authorities.

A Vocational and Educational Assessment bespoke to each attendee’s organisation, along with a template will be take-aways from the day.

Length of Training – One day session, which can be delivered in two half days.
